2 day Photography course

Suitable for amateur photographers of all abilities

Our aim during this two day course is simple: to help you become a better photographer. Through practical examples and challenges you will learn new techniques and how to use them to improve the quality of the images you produce. It really doesn’t matter whether you have just a simple point&shoot compact camera or a sophisticated DSLR outfit – “the best camera you have is the one you have with you – the worst is the one you left at home”. Several of the images that appear on this site and my personal George Perfect Photography website were taken with cameras you could slip into a shirt pocket – which hasn’t stopped them winning awards and being chosen for publication in books and magazines.

Better equipment opens up the range of control and techniques available to you, That does not mean that having better equipment by itself makes you a better photographer – you need to learn the basics of photography and only then can you build techniques and working methods that extend your range as a photographer. For those of you ready or wanting to try the challenge of either a simple camera (sometimes it’s good to go back to basics) or try handling a full pro-level camera and range of lenses we have plenty of equipment here – along with lighting equipment and accessories from the simple to the highly technical used by professionals to get “that shot” in even difficult conditions. You are welcome to try them out if that is how you would like to spend your time here.

Photography is a constant process of learning. I am still learning and trying new techniques and challenges more than 55 years after I first picked up a camera and pressed the shutter.

The learning environment here is friendly and relaxed. The course time and content allows plenty of individual attention. Because course participants usually have a broad mix of abilities our aim is to make the most of everyone. You certainly will not find yourself bussed to a scenic spot and told to “make the most of it”. Each course is individually tailored to you – beginners will not find themselves bamboozled by technical terms relevant to, say, an experienced landscape artist

The course fee includes, of course, all tuition and course materials, drinks and refreshments and a light lunch on both days, and prints of your work to take away.

Bookings no longer allowed on this date.
