Art Course

Gain inspiration and skills - in 2 days!

Becoming a better artist

Our art course is for anyone who wants to improve their skill as an artist whther working in watercolour, acrylic or mixed media - to be better able to transfer the picture you see “in your mind’s eye” to paper. Beginner or experienced artist - you will learn new techniques, ways of working and thinking about your art.
In just 2 days you will learn more than most residential courses teach in a week. How? Because each course has a very limited number of participants - giving you plenty of individual attention - and your tutor is a former professional educator.
No time is spent bussing you around to scenic sites where you will be left in peace with maybe an occasional tip or suggestion given to you. Our location is itself a scenic sites so time can be spent helping you improve your skills - whatever subject area most interests you. Each course is individually tailored to each participant - no fear of being bewildered by advanced techniques or held back by those earlier on their journey.
Painting can be a relaxing and delightful activity which - if done well- produces art that pleases you and is admired by others. When setting out to paint any subject you probably have an idea in your mind of what you want the finished painting to look like. To achieve that goal requires an understanding of how paint works, interacts with different papers, a range of techniques and effects - and, lastly, a creative ability that can be leant or taught.
We have a spacious and fully equipped art studio based in our home which sits on a ridge above a beautiful valley with a landscape of sunflowers, wheat and, of course, vines. Our own garden of several acres is full of trees, flowers and ornaments. Around the house you will find woodland and hedgerows full of inspiring subject matter and nearby villages full of honey-coloured, flower-covered stone houses and ancient churches. Whatever your favoured subject matter, you won't be short of inspiration!
